At Nursery Kitchen, we believe that every child deserves to feel happy, calm and confident around food. But we also know that feeding isn’t always simple, especially for neurodivergent children who may experience the world (and food!) a little differently.
To help nursery teams and early years professionals feel confident supporting these children, we’ve partnered with The Feeding Trust to create a special two-part webinar series all about feeding differences in neurodivergent children.
Both webinars are now available to watch whenever it suits you, each with a free downloadable resource full of gentle, practical ideas to use in your setting.
Part 1: Understanding feeding differences in neurodivergent children
In this session, Lucy Upton and Lucy Bates from The Feeding Trust explore why feeding differences can happen and how they might look compared to what we often see in neurotypical children.
You’ll learn how sensory, motor, developmental and social factors can all play a part, and how understanding these helps create calmer, more positive mealtimes for every child.
Part 2: Practical management of feeding differences in early years settings
Building on Part 1, this second webinar is all about what to do in practice. From setting up calm, predictable mealtime routines to using positive, pressure-free language, it’s filled with simple ideas that help children feel safe, curious and ready to explore food at their own pace.
For parents and families too
We also hosted a special parent session called When eating looks different. It gave families the chance to understand feeding differences at home and offered small, reassuring ways to make mealtimes more enjoyable.
Nurseries can now share this recording with parents and carers, helping families feel supported too.

We’re so proud to have worked with The Feeding Trust on these sessions, bringing together expert advice and real-life understanding. Because when nursery teams and families feel supported, children do too. Together we can help every child enjoy food in a way that feels right for them.
